City Guide Books for Kids
Raise your hand if you love to travel? It’s never too early to start exposing your children to the wonderful places in the world. That’s why we love these travel and city themed books. They are geared to a young audience with their simple and sweet illustrations and minimal words - which leaves a lot to the imagination. You just may need to book your next vacation ... Here are some of our favourite city travel guides for kids:
Come With Me to Paris
by Gloria Fowler
illustrated by Min Heo
The story is a sweet rhyming one that takes you through a day in Paris. The illustrations in this book could not be more perfect if they tried. The colours and details are stunning! There are also Come With Me to New York and Come With Me to London in the series.
All Aboard! California: A Landscape Primer
by Haily Meyers
Your kids will be begging you to take them to California. This lovely book takes you up the coast and down through the inland through amazing landmark images. There are a number of other books in this series.
Hello, New York
by Christopher Franceschelli
illustrated by Géraldine Cosneau
This special book begins with a pop-up city map to get you oriented. There are incredible cut out flaps that are so fun for the little ones. You can peak into buildings and look under bridges. Hello, Paris is another book in this series.
Jane Foster’s Cities: Washington D.C.
by Jane Foster
Jane Foster brings you back to basics with her high contrast picture book. It doesn’t get much simpler than this. Each image is super bold and graphic and the colours are perfect.
Toronto ABC
by Paul Covello
A is for AGO, B is for Blue Jays. This book takes us through the city of Toronto from the AGO to the Zoo (A to Z). The images will make your child point and scream “ I’ve been there! I’ve been there!”
All Aboard! London: A Travel Primer
by Kevin and Haily Meyers
This book has the most perfect graphics of all the iconic spots in London. Our favourite part is the adorable travel checklist at the back of the book. You’ll want to hop on a plane and fly straight to London!
San Francisco: A Book of Numbers
by Ashley Evanson
“Ding, ding! One cable car rolls down the street hill”. A fun way to count around the city of San Francisco. Also, check out Tokyo: A Book of Senses, London: A Book of Opposites, New York: A Book of Colors, and Paris: A Book of Shapes. You wont want to miss any of these books. A fun and educational series to add to your bookshelf.
