Hospital Bag During a Pandemic COVID-19

As I count down the final weeks to baby number two, I’ve been putting together my Hospital Bag List. I’ve done this once before but never during a pandemic.

The main difference I’m finding right now is the in-and-out privileges (no Uber Eats and in some cases no cafeteria or very reduced hours), no visitor policies, longer shipping times and low stock items, and harder to just “run” into a store to grab an item - so that means I need to be super organized.

Here is my full Hospital Bag list for me and babe (numbered items linked in lists below):

For Me (+ Partner) –

general items:

  • hospital documents (hospital card, health card etc.)

  • pillow (with colourful pillowcase) and cozy blanket

  • towel (is there anything better than a fluffy towel?)

  • room spray (lavender or something calming)

  • water bottle (with a straw!!!) (#3)

  • Ziplock bags (for ice)

  • lysol wipes (we need to be careful right now)

  • hand sanitizer (you won’t want/be able to wash your hands as much as you may like) (#9)

  • cotton mask (these Freon Collective ones are so pretty!) (#2)

  • mini pump soap (when you can wash your hands - something not too harsh)

  • phone chargers

  • speaker (and playlist)

  • credit card

snacks:

I ordered the Balance Snack Box and packed some applesauce pouches, homemade trail mixes etc. There are most likely no in and out privileges and no ordering food. Also, many cafeterias are closed so we don’t want anyone (mama or partner) getting hangry before or after birth.

clothes:

I personally did not wear much until I left the hospital… but this is what I am packing:

  • comfy pajamas with front opening

  • nursing/sports bras (these crossover type are everything when BF) (#6)

  • oversized granny panties

  • non-skid slipper socks

  • flip flops

  • sweatshirt and joggers (warmth)

  • Smash and Tess romper (#4)

  • change of clothes and comfortable shoes (for husband)

toiletries:

For Baby –

  • diapers (x20) newborn size (Babyganics are my fave for NB)

  • baby wipes (Water Wipes all the way)

  • coconut oil (I have mini individual wrapped packs from Trader Joes)

  • cotton hat (some hospitals aren’t giving these anymore)

  • long sleeve basic onesies (x3)

  • baby zipper sleepers (x3 - let’s just say poop attacks!)

  • receiving/muslin blankets (x2)

  • car seat secured in car (mandatory)

  • car seat cover (kind of like a baby face mask)
