Mom Talk with Marlie from KALE AND KRUNCHES

In a few sentences (we know you don’t have much time!) tell us about yourself and your little one…

I’m a first-time mom to my one year old girl, Lily. I run an online lifestyle brand called Kale and Krunches where I share everything from workouts to recipes to my day to day life with my baby girl.

Tell us all about Kale and Krunches (and how it’s evolved since becoming a mother).

As the name suggests, Kale and Krunches used to be only about health and fitness. It actually started out as a blog on how I stay healthy in my 9-5 job. Eventually I left the corporate world to pursue fitness and health coaching full time. Now since having Lily, it has evolved into an online lifestyle brand focused on helping moms achieve health and happiness in their new normal.

Faves

What is one thing you couldn’t live without as a mom?
(your ultimate must-have!)

COFFEE!

What are your child’s current faves?
(if it suddenly disappeared tomorrow - there would for sure be tears!)

A Little Tikes push-car that she calls “beep beep”

What are three things that you take everywhere with you …
(think diaper bag essentials - besides diapers!)

Those Love Duck snacks, a sippy cup and my earpods - need my hands free!

Book Club

What is your favourite children’s book?
(a childhood fave or a post children discovery)

So random and not age appropriate yet, but Something From Nothing by Phoebe Gilman

What are your child’s favourite books?
(bet you can recite from memory!)

I can recite Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Always Hug a Unicorn from memory. I’m very proud.

Mini Style

What are your favourite places to shop for your babes?
(mostly online these days I’m sure!)

My friend’s with older kids closets. 90% of what she wears are hand me downs. Otherwise, Gap + H&M.

What children’s clothing brand do you wish they made in your size?
(because let’s face it, we’ve all once thought “I wish this came in my size!”)

Mini Mioche

Mom Talk

What advice would you tell your pregnant self?
(if only you knew then..)

Everything is a phase and always works itself out...until the next phase ;)

As a working mom, how do you find “balance” between work and motherhood?
(really is there such a thing?)

I don’t believe in balance. Something always has to give. I try and plan ahead with my husband so we can split up the days and each get work time and parenting time.

Who is your momspiration?
(it can be more than just one because there are so many superstars out there!)

My own mom - how she had 4 kids, I’ll never understand!!

What has been your pandemic saviour?
(we need all the sanity tips!)

Wine? Just kidding. I would say opening the calendar and planning out my day in advance as much as possible. Even if the calendar just says “Lily” for the entire day, it helps me to know that parenting is all I’m supposed to give my attention to that day and work will wait. Obviously things come up, but planning and looking at your week ahead calms my covid anxiety!
