Mom Talk with Sujin from Spilt Milk Baby

In a few sentences (we know you don’t have much time!) tell us about yourself and your little ones…

I am a mom to two beautiful baby girls (almost 3 and 6 years old – can’t help but refer to them as my babies still). Similar to many I’m sure, I also like to say I have a third grown male baby a.k.a my husband. We love creating family traditions (family drive-in movie dates for my birthday, corny matching family PJs for Christmas, etc.) – the cheesier the better!

Fill us in on everything we should know about your shop Spilt Milk Baby:

Spilt Milk Baby has been a passion project of mine ever since I had my first daughter. I was gifted similar muslin cloths from South Korea and as a new mom, thought nothing of them. FYI, these are a staple in Asia and as common of a baby household item as swaddles are in North America. Fast forward a few years later when I was pregnant with my second, needing more cloths and unable to find any locally, I KNEW I needed to bring these to market so I could share them with other moms & babies.

What is one thing you couldn’t live without as a mom?
(your ultimate must-have!)

My ergo. Hands down. Back when I had my older daughter, there were not as many options as there are today – even colour wise, there were only a handful. Both my babies loved the original ergo carrier and it was my go-to when they were fussy and I needed to be hands free.

What are your child’s current faves?
(if it suddenly disappeared tomorrow - there would for sure be tears!)

My youngest, definitely would be her ‘blankie’, otherwise known as a swaddle. That said, she is not partial to any particular brand nor design. I currently have 7 in rotation that I’ve bought / received over the years and as long as she has a minimum of two blankies within reach, she is happy.

My oldest is different in that she becomes obsessively attached to one item, but often changes what that item is - anything from a plastic seashell, her stuffy ‘tigee’, to an E shaped keychain – which we did lose over the summer going for a nightly walk and ended with many tears! Luckily, she quickly found her next item to be attached to and life was good again.

What are three things that you take everywhere with you …
(diaper bag essentials - besides diapers!)

  1. Would it be a shameless plug if I said Spilt Milk cloths’?? In all seriousness, when my girls were younger and I carried a diaper bag, muslin cloths were my go to diaper bag item.

  2. Chapstick, as I personally cannot stand dry lips

  3. Snacks (for bebe….and me)

Book Club

What is your favourite children’s book?
(a childhood fave or a post children discovery)

My favorite book to read to the girls when they were babies was ‘Wherever You Are: My Love Will Find You’ by Nancy Tillman.

What is your child’s favourite books?
(bet you can recite from memory!)

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?’ was their favourite when they were younger. Lately however, their book of choice has been ‘The Book With No Pictures’.

Mini Style

What are your favourite places to shop for your babe?
(mostly online these days I’m sure!)

All things Zara kids and Blanchou.

What children’s clothing brand do you wish they made in your size?
(because let’s face it, we’ve all once thought “I wish this came in my size!”)

Mini Mioche. I believe they have expanded their line to big kids – they just need to take it one step further to include adult sizing.

Mom Talk

As a working mom, how do you find balance between work and motherhood?
(really is there such a thing?)

I will let you know when I find it 😊 I’ve pretty much given up all TV time for myself – I am however up to date on Paw Patrol and Miraculous.

What has been your pandemic saviour?
(we need all the sanity tips!)

Aside from TV, Playdough and glowsticks. It’s surprising at how many different uses for glowsticks kids can come up with when given the opportunity to be free thinkers / creative.
